Miniature Melbourne

As a lifelong Melbournian after seeing the Made by Joel Travel Sized Paris on pinterest I knew I wanted to make a miniature of my favourite city for my international friends.

Lately we’ve been under lockdown and been unable to access the city. While I had thought I’d visit the city to work on my miniatures it was a great lockdown project so I got to work using online photos, architectural drawings and walking the streets on google maps.

While there are a lot of iconic buildings in Melbourne, and a lot more I’d like to have done I settled on Flinders Street Station, The Shrine of Remembrance, the Arts Centre and Spire. I could not pass up featuring Melbourne’s cafe culture with Degraves Street with outdoor seating. And while I tried to keep the pieces in scale the tram is off scale being on the larger side.

The outdoor seating in Degraves street is double sided so that it can be displayed with empty seats or with diners.
